After 83 episodes, ranging from grief to prayer to comic book heroes to the smash Broadway hit “Hamilton”, Positively Joy just passed its one-year anniversary.

Divided into two seasons of about 40 episodes each, we’re about to launch our third season. It’s going to be better than ever, with amazing guests, insightful commentary and more pop culture related to our premise: God wants you to understand that his joy fills and completes.

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you…

She laughed to herself, thinking of the scene in the Beatle’s movie, “A Hard Day’s Night” where the Fab Four were being chased by all their fans. She wished she had been the girl, Patty, who got to be in the movie and later married George Harrison.

You could call her a bit of an Anglophile.

She liked British music. She had the anthology of British rock of the ’60s and ’70s Volume 1 and 2. She loved Elton John…

“I’m” NOT going to karaoke with you, I have too much work to do” Jolene huffed. Jerry sighed. He knew he was taking a chance asking Jolene, whom he’d met at a party given by his cousin. But he thought getting out and having a little fun might break that rude exterior of hers. How could such an accomplished baker of Disney-themed cakes be mean all the time?

He’d visited her shop. It was tricked out with every Disney character…

I’ve been thinking a lot about Jesus lately:

  • We remember that He went to the grave for our sins, and then came back to life!
  • I’m reading a Bible app devotional about Holy Week through the book of Mark;
  • “The Chosen,” a series about the life of Christ has live-streamed through Holy Week and starts Season 2 Easter Sunday;
  • And my fourth wedding anniversary is Friday, April 2 — yes, you read that right, on GOOD FRIDAY!

You might think that is a strange day to get married, but we chose it for an important reason. My husband, Tim, and…

Editor’s note: This story has been getting quite a bit of traffic, but I ‘d like to note the original intent. Lil Nas X released a video offensive to many Christians not because of his decision to come out, but his decision in using the Satanic imagery in doing so. Also, in releasing this just before Holy Week. Not everyone will agree with this, but please don’t call it gay-bashing. Many Christians are affirming, as am I.

Hip hop artist Lil Nas X this week released a new song and music video, “Montero,” in which the Grammy Award…

The voice of God. Audibly hearing his voice. Isn’t that what we seek when we pray? We ask for something and we think, “wouldn’t it be nice if God just said, ‘Sure, I can get that for you,’ or ‘I’ll make it happen right away.’ ”

But he doesn’t. That’s not how God works, and if I’m honest, sometimes that frustrates me. How about you?

But wait. I didn’t say God didn’t have a voice. He does. The Bible says he does, and people all over the earth have heard his calling. …

I have two cats, Jade and Gato. Rudy died several years ago, but he is still loved. I guess that is why I appeared on a kids’ podcast recently. Cool and Crazy Cats with Liani Ragade is a show about cats hosted by an 11-year-old girl who is a cat lover herself.

My episode title is: “Interview with a cat-loving expert #2.” It was a lot of fun and Liani is a great interviewer. She describes her show this way:

“Cool and Crazy Cats is a podcast about cats. Liani features interesting and fun topics such as cat breeds, how…

Changing a channel can be risky, but it’s not unusual. This blog used to be called Thoughts and Deeds, because, well, that was what it was about.

Then I changed it to my name, Yvette Walker, because it made sense and my name is my brand.

Recently I have created a faith and values podcast called Positively Joy, available on all platforms (yes, it’s a totally shameless plug!). And this podcast has become a culmination of everything I’ve been interested in and working on for the past 14 years.

Positively Joy is a multicultural, multiethnic podcast that takes a mostly…
